get a trainer? or go for some rock climbing society, make some new friends and you might get some new tips
Glad to hear you are getting to the gym every week. I **** to break you the news, but if you want to get better you need to practice and train more. Simple as that!
The good news is that you can mix it up. Cross training is very important. Run or walk briskly a few times a week.
Learn a few yoga positions and do these every morning or a few times a week. Many of the top climbers in the world practice yoga every day for flexibility, strength and focus.
Core strength is very important, and leg strength. Sit ups (crunches are better), pull ups push ups. Many rock gyms have weight or nautalis equipment on site. Work that into your climbing routine. The people that work there should have a few programs to fit what it is you want to accomplish.
And do spend more time on the rock!
The other answerer mentioned climbing with new people and that is great advice. Join some bouldering sessions with new folks, play add on or some other bouldering games to keep it fun and low key.
When I was able to boulder five days a week I got better very fast, and a LOT stronger.In fact, I discovered that I liked bouldering more than roped climbing. You really get to the meat of the sport and distill its essence into pure movement.
My route and rope climbing picked up right away and I went from a 5.9 climber to a 5.12b/c climber.
It just took determination and a well rounded approach to fitness and focus.

Yes, you should mix it up with your exercises and you should do some bouldering, but besides that you should go outdoors because it is a lot more fun and you may never want to go back to a gym, also the biggest challenges I had were outside. I mean usually I can climb a 5.10 in the gym but when I went outside, I had trouble climbing 5.8’s.
