How do you make rock climbing a competition?

I was recently elected onto the executive board for my Jewish Youth Group. Part of being on board includes coming up with fun events to do as a group. So, I chose to promote a Rock Climbing night (at an indoor climbing facility, not outdoors). However, to get this idea to fly, I need to create a competition out of it. Does anyone have any ideas?

race people to the top!
You can either race to the top. Or you can play a game kinda like HORSE where you have to get to the rock that the previous person got to or you get a letter.
make it a race against 2 or 3 people
See who can climb fastest!
Of course,,,, Have lots of prizes and competitions. Prizes from a dollar store will work fine…….make sure everyone wins something, just for attending the event.

It depends on what you want to reward. If it is skill then make it a contest where they have to climb a difficult route (say Class 5.10a). You could make it an easy wall to start on so everyone gets up part way, but with increasing difficulty at the middle and very difficult moves at the top.
Or you could make it fairly easy and everyone who gets to the top gets a playing card for each time they do it until they get 5 and then the best poker hand wins. You could also give a prize for the best style, fastest send (climb), youngest and oldest to get to the top. Hope that helps. JIM
well i JUST got back from rock climing && i know theres easy to THE HARDEST (i just saw a 5 year old do the SECOND HARDEST OF THEM ALLL) so you could have differant groups go up at differt times like hows group get s to the top to fastest (i just did this a D*I*C*K*S SPORTING GOODS) hope you guys have fun!
create a Flyer saying … looking for greatest “Cliff Hanger” or “Rocky” or “Mr Rock Climber” or ….some thing.
